Filme Review #018 - Allegiant: Part 1 (2016)
Allegiant: Part 1 (2016) is a movie directed by Robert Schwentke. It's a science fiction action film based on a book by Veronica Roth. It is the third movie in The Divergent Series, coming after Divergent and Insurgent. It is based on Roth's trilogy.
The story is amazing. "Allegiant: Part 1" explores themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and finding oneself in a divided world. These ideas are included in the story, making viewers think about the moral challenges the characters face and the world they live in.
This movie has a great score. It combines Tron: Legacy (2010) Daft Punk type cyberpunk synths with Hans Zimmer's orchestral signature sound. The combination of different sounds, including deep bass effects, makes it, in my opinion, the best soundtrack out of the three "Divergent" movies.
The audio mixing is well-balanced and deserves recognition. It handles the balance between dialogue and music well, making sure it's clear and impactful, whether there's action or quiet moments.
The cinematography in "Allegiant: Part 1" is really good, same as in Insurgent (2015). The camera work in the film is varied, with some shots being smooth and gentle, while others intentionally shaky camera shots. This adds a unique style to the way the story is visually told. The different camera techniques make each scene feel real and exciting.
When talking about "Allegiant: Part 1," it's important to mention the film's direction and editing. The director's vision is clear, especially in how they show the dystopian world of Chicago. The pacing still gives time for character development and plot progression, which is important in a movie with a complex story. It is perfectly balanced.
The acting in the movie is also excellent. The actors give profound performances, bringing their characters to life in a world that is both harsh and hopeful. Their portrayal makes the story feel more real and urgent by adding a human connection.
In conclusion, "Allegiant: Part 1" is a great film in many ways. The movie is visually impressive, has great music, and the actors do a great job, making it worth watching. Moreover, it has an ambitious and impressive storytelling and stunning visuals, despite some flaws, e.g., heavy overuse of CGI. The film does a good job of expanding its universe and staying in tune to the core themes of the "Divergent" series. Unfortunately, the Part 2 of this movie, “Ascendant” is never going to be released.
