Film Review #52 - All Quiet on the Western Front (2022)

Music and Sound Design: The music in the film has a strong blockbuster feel to it, with a lot of tension and a repetitive style that reminds me of the score in Dunkirk (2017). The film's excellence in sound is clearly evident, which is why it deservedly won an Oscar for Best Original Score in 2023. The sound design in this film is incredibly detailed, which helps to fully immerse the viewer in the experiences of the characters. The way high frequencies are cut off in certain scenes is executed masterfully, which adds to the overall richness of the film experience.  Cinematography and Visual Storytelling: The cinematography in 'All Quiet on the Western Front' is remarkable. The use of long, uninterrupted shots adds depth to the narrative, while the incorporation of mount shots enhances the visual storytelling, similar to techniques used in Dunkirk (2017).
